Lawn care SEO, aimed at the route rather than the city.

Maintenance is a density business. Five accounts on one street beats five accounts across a metro, because the drive time between stops is unbilled. Lawn care SEO should be pointed at the clusters a crew can run in a single day.

03
The real metric

Route density decides whether an account is profitable.

A stop fifteen minutes from the next one costs a crew day. Two hundred scattered accounts can be less profitable than a hundred clustered ones, and no ranking report will show you that.

So the target is not citywide visibility. It is dominance in specific neighborhoods, ideally the ones whose property values also support enhancement and design-build upsells later.

That is a narrower keyword set and a tighter local structure than most agencies sell. It also produces accounts you can service at a margin, which is the only version of a lead that is worth anything.

04
The ladder

A mowing customer is the start of a much larger number.

Maintenance accounts are the entry point. Mowing becomes cleanup, cleanup becomes mulch and planting, planting becomes a patio. Marketing that treats a $45 visit as the end state leaves the rest on the table.

Year 1

Weekly maintenance, roughly $2,400 a season.

Year 2

Add a treatment program and spring cleanup.

Year 3

Enhancement work, then hardscape.

The ladder

What a mowing customer becomes.

StageTypical valueHow long it usually takes
Weekly maintenanceAbout $45 a visit, roughly $1,530 a seasonThe entry point
Seasonal contractAbout $2,400 a yearFirst or second season
Lawn treatment programAbout $600 a year on topOften sold in the first year
Enhancement or plantingAbout $6,500Year two or three
Irrigation or lightingAbout $4,500Frequently follows an enhancement
Hardscape or design-build$22,000 to $65,000Year three onward, if you stayed visible
07
Retention

The cheapest customer to win is the one you already have.

A maintenance book is a standing relationship with a property owner who already trusts you on their land every week. That is the most valuable marketing asset in this trade and it is routinely wasted.

Most companies market to strangers and communicate with existing customers only through an invoice. The enhancement work, the drainage fix, the patio they have been thinking about for two years, all of it goes to somebody who advertised, because you never mentioned you do it.

Search work supports this more than it looks like it should. The customer who searches whether their lawn pooling water is fixable should land on your page, recognize your name, and call the company already cutting their grass. That only happens if the page exists.

08
Contracts

Per-visit pricing is the thing to move away from.

A per-visit customer decides every week whether to keep paying you. A seasonal contract customer decides once a year, which changes your cash flow, your route planning and how much a new customer is worth.

Predictable revenue

A seasonal contract at around $2,400 lets you plan crews and equipment against a known number rather than against the weather.

Better routing

Contracted stops can be scheduled tightly. Per-visit customers who skip weeks put holes in a route that cannot be filled.

A higher ceiling

Contract customers accept enhancement and treatment work far more readily, because the relationship is already annual rather than weekly.

Pricing

Golden or Platinum for maintenance-led companies.

A single-market lawn care company can start on Golden at $235. Add design-build or a second service area and Platinum is the right call.

Questions

What does lawn care SEO actually target?

Recurring service terms in the specific areas your crews run, plus treatment program terms which carry higher annual value than mowing. Volume alone is a poor guide, because a lead you cannot service profitably is a cost.

We are booked in summer. Why market at all?

Because the accounts you sign in spring are decided by rankings set in winter, and because a booked summer with poor route density is less profitable than a tighter book.

Is lawn care SEO different from landscaping SEO?

The mechanics are the same. The keyword economics are not. Lawn care terms are high volume and low value, which makes them easy to over-target and easy to mistake for progress.

Is lawn care SEO worth it when the accounts are small?

It depends on retention and route. A single account at $45 a visit is not worth much on its own, but a retained account across four seasons at contract value is around $9,600, and one that clusters with four neighbors is worth more again because the drive time is already paid for.

How do we compete with the cheapest quote in the market?

Not on price, and search actually helps here. Someone who found you by searching for a specific problem, read how you work, and called is a different buyer to someone comparing three quotes on price alone. The page does the qualifying before the phone rings.

Should we target lawn treatment separately from mowing?

Yes. They are different searches with different buyers, and treatment is worth roughly $600 a year recurring against a $45 visit. Plenty of homeowners who cut their own grass will pay someone else to run a treatment program, and a page that only talks about mowing never reaches them.

How do we use search to tighten an existing route?

Target the neighborhoods you already serve rather than the whole metro. Being the obvious choice on four streets where you already run is worth more than thin visibility across forty, because every account you add there costs no extra drive time and improves the margin on the stops you already have.
